A Story of the Identity Crisis Universe

Short Story by J. D. Brink

In Mesa City, there’s one hero you can count on to defend justice.

Actually, there are two: the mysterious Shadow Puppet and that show-off, Mr. Wonderful.

The Shadow Puppet is thought to be dead.  And the man behind the mask almost prefers it that way.  But he just can’t let the Mr. Wonderfuls of the world get the best of him.

Tonight he returns from the grave!

A blend of colorful superhero spandex and black-and-white detective noir, this fun short story offers a peek at the lighter side of the Identity Crisis Universe. It is also featured within the pages of the mini-collection Masks.

Thanks to the costume his wife made him (and having gone off his meds), J. D. Brink thinks he’s a superhero.

In his real life adventures, he’s served aboard a warship in the Pacific, collected intel from foreign submarines, trained corpsman on how to save Marines, and cared for patients at hospitals in Kuwait and Japan.  Today (spring of 2017) he and his family are stationed near Tokyo, where weighing 200 pounds and having blue eyes makes it difficult to keep a secret identity.

His fictional adventures take place in the Identity Crisis superhero universe, Endless Dark sci-fi universe, and Thunderstrike Saga fantasy realm, to name a few.
